Update: I picked taped boxes over glued ones for my burger kits and lost $180 in one weekend
Quick warning for anyone doing burger or sandwich kits out of a home kitchen. I had to choose between taping my kraft boxes shut with packing tape or using a food-safe glue stick on the flaps. The tape was faster and I could do 60 boxes in 20 minutes, so I picked that. Big mistake. Last Friday I sent out 22 orders to a spot near downtown Austin and 5 customers sent pics of tape stuck to their buns. One lady said her kid almost ate a strip of it. I refunded 4 full orders at $30 each plus the fees, so about $180 gone in two days. What fixed it was folding the flaps inward first, then one small strip of tape on the outside seam only, so nothing touches food. Anyone else run into tape touching the food on delivery kits, and what are you using instead?
