Guy at my local metal supply in Tulsa laughed at me for asking about cut quality on 3/16 plate
I was picking up a sheet of 3/16 mild steel at my supplier in Tulsa last week and asked the counter guy what tips he'd run for cleaner edges on a 45 amp setup, and he just smirked and said 'you're wasting your time, that's what a grinder is for.' Told me he'd been cutting for 12 years and never once worried about dross or bevel because cleanup is just part of the job, which felt like a weird flex when I'm trying to cut parts that actually fit together without an hour of grinding. Am I crazy for thinking cut quality actually matters, or is this just how old school guys think?
