Showerthought: found out my ground clamp was on painted steel for like 8 months
I was chasing bad cuts on 14 gauge for months, ugly bevels, dross everywhere, and I kept blaming the consumables. Then a buddy swung by the shop in Mesa and asked why my ground clamp was biting on the powder coat instead of bare metal. Sure enough I clamped it right back on the same painted spot every time because it was easy to reach. Ground to clean steel and the cut quality changed overnight, like someone flipped a switch. I felt about as sharp as a butter knife. Anyone else got a dumb one like this they want to fess up to so I feel better?
