My friend told me to always pack a power strip for cafe work

I was in Austin last month and the coffee shop only had one outlet open, but I had my strip so we both plugged in. Ended up sharing it with another coder who bought me a latte as thanks. Do you guys carry anything like that or just hope for the best?

Is carrying a power strip really worth the extra stuff in your bag? It just seems like one more thing to lose or forget. Most places have enough outlets if you just show up at a normal time. I would rather pack light and ask to share an outlet if I really need one. The whole thing feels like solving a problem that barely exists for most people.

My buddy Mark got stuck at an airport lounge with dead outlets everywhere. He pulled out his little three port strip and this stressed out dad practically hugged him for letting his kids charge their tablets. Made the whole wait way less chaotic for everyone nearby.
