Fandom census data just wrecked my whole comic shop theory
I was digging through the 2024 comics fandom survey from Comic-Con International and found out that about 38% of regular comic buyers are women. That shocked me because my local shop in Portland has maybe 5 women out of 40 people on Wednesday nights. I always figured the stereotype was basically true, but the numbers say otherwise. Has anyone else noticed a huge gap between what the stats show and what you see in your own shop? Maybe I just go on the wrong day.
