Hot take: That comic book signing in Austin totally changed how I store my floppies
I went to a signing at Austin Books & Comics last month and brought about 20 issues for this artist to sign. Turns out I had them in a regular cardboard box and the humidity was so bad that the covers started to curl by the end of the day. The artist actually pointed it out and said I should switch to those plastic tote bins with desiccant packs inside. I never thought about moisture being an issue in Texas but after that I went out and spent $40 on two heavy duty bins and some silica gel packets. Now I keep all my key issues in there and my regular readers in Mylar bags inside a short box. Has anyone else dealt with warped covers from humidity at a con or signing?

Wait, the artist seriously called out your storage in front of everyone?

People just love pointing out what others don't have instead of focusing on what matters... it's like some folks get a weird thrill from calling out small stuff in public. Reminds me of how everyone's always checking who has the newest phone or the biggest house, like that's the only way to measure success. Feels like we've all gotten way too comfortable judging each other over things that don't really count.
