My buddy told me to bag and board every single issue, even the junk ones
So my friend Mark, who's been collecting since the 80s, kept nagging me about bagging everything I buy. I thought he was just being obsessive until last month I found a decent copy of Secret Wars #8 at a garage sale for a dollar. I left it loose on my shelf for like 3 weeks and my kid dropped a juice box on it. Now it's got a big stain right on Doctor Doom's face and it's basically worthless. Has anyone else ruined a good find by not listening to the old heads?

Bag and board everything the second you get home, even the dollar bin fodder. I learned that one the hard way when a cup of coffee got knocked over and took out a stack of comics I had sitting on my workbench. If you don't bag it, it's just paper waiting to get wrecked by a kid, a pet, or your own clumsy self. For the cheap stuff, go with the economy packs of bags and boards, they're like ten bucks for a hundred and it saves you headaches later. I keep a box of short bags and boards right by my door so I don't forget before the stack even hits the shelf.

Skip the bagging honestly. Half my dollar bin stuff is still in the store bag from three weeks ago and I don't lose sleep over it.
