The longbox shelf at Dragon's Keep changed my whole pull list routine

I stopped by Dragon's Keep in Cleveland last Saturday just to grab issue 4 of a mini series. They had this beat up wooden longbox near the back with a sign saying "staff picks, browse freely." I spent maybe 40 minutes just flipping through stuff I never would have touched, like a 1991 run of Starman I'd always skipped. That shelf got me to finally organize my own boxes by creator instead of title, which took an afternoon but made grabbing new releases way less stressful. Has anyone else had a store display that totally redirected how you sort or shop for books?

Man, I gotta push back on this whole thing. Sorting by creator sounds like a nightmare when you got books from a million different writers scattered all over, and that shelf just made you waste 40 minutes when you coulda grabbed your book and left. I tried organizing by creator once back in the day and spent more time hunting for a single issue than I ever did just scanning alphabetically, so I went right back to title order and never looked back. Store displays are fun to browse, sure, but they ain't a system that works for your own boxes, and that's coming from someone who's had to dig through piles of books at job sites, trust me.
