A safety guy's offhand comment about harness checks stuck with me
I was on a job site near Port Angeles last month, taking a break by the dive locker. One of the safety officers walked by and said, "Your gear doesn't fail on schedule, it fails on your worst day." It got me thinking about how I only really inspect my harness straps and buckles when I feel something off, not every time like I should. That comment pushed me to do a full check every Monday morning before the first dive, and I found a cracked buckle on my emergency bottle strap that I had totally missed. Anyone else have a habit or rule they picked up from a random comment on site that actually saved them trouble later?
