Heard a new guy say 'just use sharkbites' on a 4 story job today
I was walking through a supply house in Cleveland this morning and overheard this apprentice talking to his lead about using push-fit fittings on a 6 inch main drain line. Made me think back to when I started in the late 90s - we had to sweat every joint on a commercial job no exceptions. Now I see guys arguing that speed is worth the risk on big builds. Has anyone else noticed a real drop in soldering skills in the younger crews over the last few years?

Stick with copper on high rises and save the push fittings for emergency repairs.

Oh wow, people keep forgetting how crazy the thermal expansion is on those high rise buildings. Copper handles the constant heat cycling way better than push fittings that can loosen up over time from all that movement. I've seen too many callbacks on big jobs where someone used push fittings just to save an hour of labor.
