Got called out for my 'cable tornado' by a client's eight year old

I was finishing a setup for a family in Tacoma, and their kid pointed at the back of the PC and said, 'Mister, that looks like spaghetti that fell on the floor.' I started using Velcro straps for every single job after that, no exceptions. What's the dumbest thing a non-tech person has said that actually made you change your routine?

Oh man, my buddy had a client's dog chew through a power cord that was just dangling loose behind a media console. The whole thing shorted out and fried the surge protector. He started securing and tucking every wire out of sight after that, just in case of pets or kids.

Waste when you could be moving on" ignores long term call backs.

Velcro straps are just extra time and cost for no real benefit. A working system is what people pay for, not a tidy photo op behind the desk. That kid's comment was cute, but clients never see the back of the tower once it's in place. Spending extra minutes on perfect cable management is a waste when you could be moving to the next job.
