Old foreman told me to wet the subgrade before pouring...

He said it'd keep the slab from cracking, but I tried it on a 30 yard pour down in Tucson and the whole thing turned into a muddy mess... any other finishers ever run into this?

Didn't the foreman mention letting it dry first before pouring?

30 yards in Tucson and your foreman didn't tell you to let that wet subgrade sit overnight before pouring? That's a disaster waiting to happen in that heat. Mud and concrete don't mix, you just end up with a soupy mess that never sets right.
