Warning: my cross-save setup got bricked by a simple account link

I set up cross-save between my Switch and PC last month so I could keep my progress on both. Took me two days to figure out why my saves kept overwriting each other. Turns out I had linked my Epic account to the wrong email on one console. Every time I switched devices, it pulled the older file and wiped out like 15 hours of grinding. I finally found a support thread from 2022 that explained the fix, then had to contact support to unlink and relink. Whole process took about a week of back and forth emails. Has anyone else hit this wall with cross-save systems, or was I just the unlucky one?

Fumbled my way through the exact same nightmare last year on my PS5 and PC. I somehow linked my old college email to one account and my current one to the other, so my 40 hour run got flattened to a 3 hour save. Spent a whole weekend just staring at loading screens and support ticket forms, felt like I was getting punked by the cloud itself. Honestly, hats off to you for getting it fixed in a week, I nearly threw my controller through a window over it.

@davis.casey sounds like the cloud was just testing your patience, and honestly surviving that makes you stronger than most gamers I know. Next time I'll just burn my save on purpose to skip the trauma.
