Just realized the guy at my laundromat in Reno swears the moon landing was faked because of the flag
I was just there to dry three loads and he pulled up a photo on his phone to prove it waved wrong in a vacuum. Now I can't stop wondering if anyone else has run into these guys at their own laundromat.
Did you know the flag thing was actually solved back in 1969? I read that NASA knew the flag would look weird in a vacuum so they put a stiff wire rod along the top edge just to hold it out. It still rippled a bit when they moved it around, which is why it looks like it's waving in the photos. The whole thing is pretty easy to look up, but good luck telling that to the guy at the laundromat.
