Switched to collecting local pressings instead of imports and my wallet is actually breathing again
I spent 3 months buying Japanese and UK vinyl and blew through $600, but when I hit up the local shops in Cleveland I found a mint copy of the same album for $12 and now I'm wondering why I ever bothered with overseas shipping fees in the first place.

Dude same here, I was paying $40 for UK pressings and found the same record at a garage sale for $3.

Wow, that's wild! It really makes you think about how we value things based on where we find them. You know what nobody talks about, though? The condition of those garage sale records vs. the UK pressings. I've picked up cheap records that looked beat up but played perfectly, while some mint-condition expensive ones were noisy or warped. A $3 find can sometimes sound better than a $40 one if the vinyl itself is in good shape, even if the cover's torn. Anyone else notice that?
