The lockpicking demo at Def Con 2019 rewired my whole approach
I was in the Vegas conference hall watching someone pop a Master lock in 11 seconds with two paperclips. After that I never trusted a keyed lock again, switched to pin tumbler practice at home. Anyone else have one live demo that made them question a basic tool they used daily?

That line about never trusting a keyed lock again, yeah I get that. My buddy Ray saw a guy bypass a hotel keycard lock with just a magnet and a thin piece of plastic at a security conference in Chicago back in 2017. Ray went home and tested it on his own apartment door, it worked in under a minute. He ended up replacing all his door hardware with smart locks, but then he lost power during a storm and got locked out of his own place for six hours. He still carries a paperclip in his wallet everywhere now, just in case.
