Kitchen reno in Boise changed my bid process, now I ask about the dog

I was doing a kitchen remodel in Boise last spring, mid-demo this labradoodle keeps barking at me through the gate. The homeowner said 'oh he's friendly' but I had to stop work three times to calm him down, cost me about 2 hours. Now I ask every potential client if they have pets before I even submit a bid, some guys say that's over the top. So which is it, do you factor in animal chaos when pricing a job or just roll with it and eat the lost time?

My buddy had a tile job where the lady's two shepherds were locked in the bedroom the whole time, but she kept going in and out to check on them and they'd bolt past her into the work zone. He finally started adding a flat pet fee to his bids, just a small line item, and nobody has pushed back on it yet. So yeah, it's fair to ask about pets up front.
