Overheard a client say my quote was a ripoff to his neighbor at the hardware store

I was picking up supplies at the Home Depot on Main Street Tuesday morning when I heard one of my recent clients telling another guy my $2,500 kitchen backsplash quote was highway robbery. He didn't know I was two aisles over grabbing grout and I heard every word he said about my work. How do you guys handle it when you find out someone you worked for is badmouthing your prices in public like that?

Hasn't that happened to everyone at least once with that one specific client who just never seems to be happy?

it's wild how we all eventually run into that one person who's basically allergic to satisfaction. like in my experience, it's never just about the work, it's a whole vibe where they move the goalposts every single time you think you've finally cracked the code. you end up second guessing every little thing you do because no matter what, they find something to nitpick. it's like they get some weird energy from keeping you on edge, and honestly it's exhausting trying to figure out what they actually want when they don't even know themselves.
