That one Tuesday in Fishers where every estimate went sideways
Last month I had a day that made me want to quit and start selling insurance. Three walkthroughs scheduled back to back, and each one had something jacked up. First house, the homeowner wanted a quote for a crawlspace encapsulation but had six inches of standing water down there and didn't mention it until I was already in my gear. Second job, the guy kept interrupting me to argue about pricing before I even measured the basement. Third one, I showed up at the right address but the wrong house, the actual client was two streets over and didnt answer his phone for 20 minutes. By the time I got back to the truck I had burned 4 hours and written exactly zero numbers. The kicker was a text from a regular customer asking if I could squeeze in a yellow jacket nest removal that evening, which I did, and that ended up being the only money I made that day. Anyone else have a day where the small simple job saved the whole schedule? What saved yours?
Six inches of standing water" and they wait till you're suited up? That's brutal. Yeah, the easy money always hides in the weird little jobs. Couldn't have said it better.
