My curling iron gave up mid-service yesterday
I was doing a set of loose curls for a bridal trial at 8am and my Hot Tools just stopped heating up out of nowhere. Client had to wait 20 minutes while I ran to borrow one from the stylist next door. Anyone have a backup brand that lasts longer than 6 months without dying on you?

My 3 year old Hot Tools is still going strong no matter how much I abuse it. Maybe you got a dud or something? I have dropped mine on tile floors twice and it still heats up in like 30 seconds. I honestly think a lot of times it's how you store them or if you wrap the cord too tight around the base that messes with the internal wiring. Not saying that's what happened to yours but 6 months is really short for any brand. If you're burning through them that fast maybe check your outlet or power strip too.

Six months is pretty bad for any tool, but a dud happens. I don't know if the cord wrapping tip really matters that much unless you're literally yanking the wire out of the base. People treat hair tools like they're made of glass online. It's a heated stick with a wire. Drop it on tile, maybe it breaks or maybe it's fine. Overthinking storage is just another way to blame yourself.
