I did a full head of highlights for a lady with coarse gray hair a few years back, and my mentor at the salon in Tulsa said to skip the water bottle and just spray a little cheap conditioner on the foils before folding. I figured she was messing with me, but I tried it anyway because the bleach kept bleeding between foils. The foils stayed put way better and I didn't get those weird hot spots near the roots anymore. I've been doing it that way ever since, though I still feel a little weird explaining it to new clients. Does anyone else use conditioner in their foils or is this a Tulsa thing?
