My Tuesday client wanted a full bleach and tone but her hair was already fried

She came in with hair that felt like straw from a box dye job two weeks ago, and she wanted to go platinum. I told her straight up it would break off, but she insisted. After a test strand snapped, I spent an hour talking her into a deep conditioning treatment and a shadow root instead. It saved her hair, but she left unhappy. How do you guys handle clients who want something that will clearly damage their hair?

Man, I used to just do it, but a client's hair breaking off changed my mind for good.
