Silver toner on my mom's hair finally clicked after 8 years

I always thought purple shampoo was enough, but after doing a proper toner with 10 volume on her roots last Tuesday, the brassiness vanished in one session. What finally convinced me was seeing her gray grow out completely silver instead of that yellowy straw look, has anyone else tried this on older clients?
