Tried a water-only shampoo bar on a client with oily hair

I figured it'd be a disaster but she insisted after watching some eco influencer. Her scalp was greasy for 3 weeks straight and she came back asking me to fix it. Has anyone else had clients beg for natural methods that just don't work on certain hair types?

I'll tell you what, I once tried to talk a buddy into letting me practice a "no-poo" method on him (baking soda and apple cider vinegar, real trendy at the time) and his hair looked like a grease trap for two weeks. He kept texting me photos from work like "is this normal?" and I had to lie and say it was just the "transition phase." Total disaster. Moral of the story is some scalps just need that sulfate slap in the face, you know? I've since learned to nod politely at eco ideas and then quietly reach for the clarifying shampoo when they're not looking.

Total disaster" is exactly the right way to put it, and your friend sending photos asking "is this normal" is way too relatable. That "transition phase" line gets thrown around like it's a magic fix, but honestly some people's scalps never transition. They just stay greasy and sad forever. I had a client who did the baking soda thing for two months and her hair ended up feeling like straw on the ends but still looked wet at the roots. It's like people forget that different hair textures and oil levels exist (you know, basic biology). I wish more influencers would add a disclaimer that says "this might ruin your scalp for weeks, proceed with caution.
