I finally tried the pass-and-play mode with my 8 year old and it surprised me
My daughter usually just watches me play stuff, but last weekend I fired up a turn-based co-op game on the Switch and handed her the controller every other round. I figured she'd get bored after 10 minutes, but she actually got into planning her moves and even started trash talking me. We played for like 45 minutes straight, which is a record for her attention span. Has anyone else had luck getting younger kids into turn-based games instead of the frantic stuff? I'm looking for more titles like that for our next rainy day.

Turn-based games teach patience, something most adults never learn anyway.

Damn right. I've seen grown men lose their minds over a red light, let alone a game that makes them wait their turn. There's something about knowing you can't rush things, you just have to sit with your choices and let the next move come to you. That's a skill most people never build. Honestly, the patience I've picked up from grinding through tough fights has saved me more times than I'd like to admit.
