My nephew said our game nights were 'too intense' and it made me rethink everything
About two years ago, my nephew, who was maybe ten at the time, told me he didn't want to play 'Mario Kart' anymore because he felt like he was 'always getting yelled at' to not fall off Rainbow Road. It was a real gut check. I realized I was treating our couch co-op like a competitive tournament, not a fun family hangout. So I made a rule: for the first hour, we only play games where we're on the same team, like 'Overcooked' or 'Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime'. It completely changed the vibe. Now we laugh more than we groan. Anyone else had to dial back the competitiveness to keep the crew together?

Sounds like you're overthinking a ten-year-old's opinion.

Honestly, kids that age are forming their own worldview. Dismissing it outright misses a chance to understand how they see things. It's less about the opinion itself and more about the process.
