My wife pointed out we'd been playing Overcooked 2 wrong for months by just yelling at each other instead of calling out ingredients.
We finally beat the last level in the main campaign after we started actually saying 'onion' or 'lettuce' instead of 'that green thing' during the chaos.

We always called the plates 'circles' and the soup 'red stuff'. Total mess. My partner got so mad when I asked for the circle near the red stuff. Started using the real names last week. Game changed. We got three stars on a level we were stuck on for a month.

Wow, that's actually a huge deal. I always thought the made up names were faster, but it just makes everything confusing. Calling the onion soup "onion soup" instead of "white water" finally got my kitchen to stop burning it.

Game changed" is a stretch. Made up names work fine if you both know the code. My wife and I call tomatoes "red balls" and we clear levels just fine. The real problem is poor teamwork, not your silly nicknames.
