PSA: a $9 velcro cable sleeve kit saved my shelf setup, a $40 plastic bin did NOT
I bought a 20 pack of those velcro cable ties from Amazon last week for about $9 and they fixed the worst rat nest behind my TV stand in maybe 15 minutes. But the $40 clear storage bin I got at Target for my controllers was a total waste because it doesn't fit under the shelf and now it just sits on the floor. Has anyone found a cheap bin that actually slides under a standard 12 inch shelf gap?
Wait, 12 inches and a $6 shoe box fits? I measured my Target bin at like 13 inches tall with the lid on and didn't even think to check the inside height, that totally explains why it won't slide under.
Those velcro ties are great but the bin thing is more about measuring than price, a $6 shoe box from Walmart slides under a 12 inch gap just fine. The real trick is checking the inside height, not the outside, since lids and handles add an inch or two you didn't plan for. Skip the fancy bins and just grab a few cheap shoe boxes or a drawer divider set instead.
