Unpopular opinion: Labeling every single cable in my setup actually made things worse
I used to be all about those fancy label makers and color-coded zip ties for my gaming gear. Last summer I spent a whole weekend labeling every USB, HDMI, and power cord in my closet setup down to the exact device it went to. Then I rearranged my desk and swapped out a monitor, and suddenly half my labels were wrong. I spent more time peeling off old labels and redoing them than I did actually playing games that month. Now I just group cables by type and keep a simple diagram on my phone instead. It might not look as neat in the photos I post here, but it saves me hours of frustration every time I change something. Has anyone else found that over-organizing backfired on them? What method works better for you when you swap gear often?
