I finally filled a notebook with story ideas after a year of trying
I mean, I started this little black Moleskine in June last year and for the first eight months it had maybe three half-baked ideas. Then I started doing a five-minute 'what if' prompt every morning with my coffee, and now the thing is completely full. Has anyone else found a simple daily habit that actually got them writing more?

That "five-minute 'what if' prompt" thing is a game changer. I used to wait for big ideas, but doing a tiny daily thing like that is what actually builds up pages.

My version of that was forcing myself to write one terrible sentence a day. The rule was it had to be genuinely bad, no pressure. I now have a document with 200 awful sentences and, weirdly, three decent story starts buried in the mess. It turns out my best work is hiding behind my worst.

It's like tricking your brain into making something good by aiming for garbage first. Maybe the real goal is just to get words down without any rules.
