I used to think writing prompts were just for beginners

I was at the library in Decatur last week and saw a guy using a prompt about a lost glove to write a whole noir detective scene. It was the specific detail about the glove being a child's left-handed mitt that made his story click. What's the most specific prompt you've seen spark a good idea?

Is that the same prompt as the one with "forgiveness" on the list? I saw someone post that in a writers group. It's crazy how one weird word can do that. Makes you realize a good prompt is just a tiny crack you can pry open. I've bookmarked a few of those specific ones myself.

Saw a prompt about a library book with a grocery list in the margins. The list had "eggs, milk, forgiveness" and it just unlocked this whole sad family story for me.

Hey @the_michael, what helps me is just writing the story down fast before it fades.
