My writing group in Tucson kept saying my prompts were too vague, and they were right
Last month at our meetup in Tucson, a guy named Ray read my prompt about a locked door and said he had no clue what anyone would even write about. I started adding one weird detail to every prompt, like 'a locked door with a wet umbrella leaning against it,' and suddenly people had pages of stuff. Turns out a good prompt is not a theme, it is a tiny broken thing that needs fixing. What small detail do you use to get people writing?
