I got an email from my credit union that almost tricked me

Last week, an email said my credit union needed me to confirm my info. It looked official, but the sender's email was a jumble of letters. What do you all do to double-check these things?

Notice how everything wants you to react right away now... not just fake emails. Grocery store apps flash "limited time deal" and social media sends those "your friend tagged you" notifications that are just ads. It feels like the whole internet is set up to make you click first and think later. Makes that habit of slowing down and checking the sender seem like a basic life skill now, not just for email.

You mentioning the jumbled sender email is key. I used to trust these messages if the logo looked correct. Then I had a close call with a fake bank email. Now I never click the link, I always log in separately to check. Makes you wonder how many people fall for this stuff, doesn't it?

Phishing scams got way better at copying real logos last year. I read that some even use stolen graphics to look perfect. That's why @michael_mason's habit of logging in separately is so smart now.
