Just read a report that 43% of cyber attacks target small businesses

I found this stat in a Verizon report from last year, and it really got me thinking. Most people assume big companies are the main targets, but small shops are getting hit hard because they often have weaker security. Has anyone here worked on a plan specifically for a small business client?

Forget the plan for a second, what's the actual first step a small business should even take? Most don't have an IT person, so is it just buying some antivirus software and calling it a day, or is there a basic checklist they can actually follow without spending a fortune?
