Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say his password was 'password123' and I had to say something
I was grabbing a latte at this little spot on Grand Ave yesterday and this dude is on his laptop, telling his friend his password is 'password123' for everything. He laughed about it too. I leaned over and told him to change it because I've had people get into my old email from a breach and it cost me $400 in fake charges. Has anyone else run into people just not caring about passwords until they get burned?

Wow, can't believe he actually admitted that out loud in a public place.

Learn from that mistake @grant.richard and keep your mouth shut next time, it saves a lot of trouble.

Guess I learned my lesson way back when my nephew came over and changed my computer password as a joke. He thought it was hilarious but I couldn't log in for two days until he came back from his camping trip. Had to use my work laptop for everything and missed a bunch of emails. People treat passwords like they're just a game until something locks them out or costs them real money. I still think it's worth speaking up though, even if folks get annoyed at you for it. Sometimes a stranger's warning is what sticks more than family telling you the same thing over and over.
