Debate: Did my fridge dying force me to finally clean it out or was that a blessing?

My 15 year old Kenmore gave up last night in Austin and now I'm torn between being mad about losing the leftovers and kinda happy I had to purge all those mystery containers. Which side wins for you, the annoyance of a broken thing or the silver lining of the cleanup?

All those mystery containers" is the real kicker here. I'm curious though, how many of those containers did you actually open and immediately regret smelling? Because for me, that's the difference between a blessing and just another chore. Did you find anything that made you go "oh yeah, I remember making that three weeks ago" or was it all just science experiments at that point?

You serious? I gotta disagree with you on this one, @dylanbarnes. The mystery containers are the whole point. Half the fun is playing fridge roulette and seeing what you get. Sure, you might hit a science experiment that smells like a dead raccoon, but that's part of the experience. I actually get excited about the weird stuff. It's like a little treasure hunt where the prize is usually mold. And honestly, the ones I actually remember making? Those are usually the boring leftovers. The real surprises come from the things I can't even recognize anymore.
