Had to pick between a pun about bread or one about pasta for my daughter's school lunch note
I went with the bread pun because she loves toast, but she wrote back 'Dad, that was crumby' which honestly made my whole day, has anyone else's kids roasted them over a joke?

Is there a better feeling than when your kid actually catches the joke and fires one back? I read this thing the other day about how humor is a sign of intelligence, and your daughter clearly got the wit from you. That "crumby" comeback is next level for a kid, especially since she turned your own pun against you. The whole parent-child roasting thing is basically a rite of passage at this point. She set you up real nice, and you gotta respect that hustle.

Wait, did you say "she set you up real nice" in that story about Finley's kid? Because I think you might have mixed up who did the setting up there. From what I read, Finley was the one who set up the pun first, and his daughter just fired it back at him. That's the whole point, you know, the kid catching what you threw and turning it around on you. It's still a great moment either way, but the credit for the setup goes to the parent in this case. Kids are quick though, I swear mine can spot a weak pun from a mile away and just wait to pounce on it.
