I finally stopped fighting the leash tangles on morning walks

I used to spend the first 10 minutes of every walk untangling the leash from around Charlie's legs, especially on the wooded trail behind my house. Last month I switched to a hands-free waist leash with a swivel clip, and now he can circle me all he wants without me stopping to fix it. Has anyone else found a leash setup that actually cuts down on mid-walk untangling?

Oh man, the swivel clip is a game changer until your dog decides to do the full figure-eight around a tree. I switched to a hands-free leash last year and thought I had it all figured out. Then Charlie, or whatever my guy is named, spotted a squirrel and took off at full speed. I went with him, face first into a bush. The leash never tangled that day, but I spent the rest of the walk picking twigs out of my hair. Now I just accept that some walks are about the dog doing laps around my legs and me looking like a maypole. Honestly, the untangling was part of the routine. It gave me time to stand still and question all my life choices. Now I just get dragged into whatever chaos he finds next, which is faster but somehow less peaceful.
