Changed my mind about voice assistants after 3 years of ignoring them

Always thought smart speakers were useless. Would mute the mic on my Echo Dot ASAP. Then last Tuesday at 2 AM I dropped my phone behind the couch in the dark. Just said 'Alexa call my phone' and it rang. Finally get why people use them for simple stuff. Anyone else have a moment that made voice commands click for them?

So like @lee_grant97 I was totally with you on that creepy factor thing. Actually had a friend name Rachel who was the BIGGEST skeptic. She refused to name hers Alexa, just called it "the thing" because she said it was too personal. But then she had this moment where she was home sick with a HIGH fever and couldn't get off the couch to turn off the stove timer. She just yelled for it to stop and it actually WORKED. After that she got way more relaxed about having it around. She still keeps the mute button on most of the time though, only unmutes when she actually needs it. I get why Lee thinks it's not worth the trade off but sometimes those little conveniences add up in ways you don't expect.

Get where you're coming from but honestly I still don't trust em. One random convenience at 2am doesnt make up for all the times I've accidentally triggered mine during a show or had it misunderstand me completely. Ngl I'd rather just use my phone for things like that, feels less creepy.
