Hit 1000 hrs on my old laptop battery and it still holds a 4 hour charge

Ive had this Dell laptop since 2019 and last week it rolled over to 1000 hours of use on the battery. Thats according to the built in battery report thing in Windows. I figured by now it would be dead or only last like 30 minutes. I use it for work like spreadsheets and some video calls, nothing heavy. But honestly I'm surprised it made it this long without swelling or failing. Has anyone else gotten way more life out of a gadget battery than you expected?

Wow, that's impressive. In my experience keeping the battery between 20 and 80 percent really stretches the lifespan, so maybe you got lucky with your charging habits too.

The 20-80 rule is solid but I've had good luck just keeping mine between 30 and 70 most days. The real key is not letting it sit at 100% for hours on end, especially if you're plugging it in overnight. I set a shortcut on my phone that cuts off charging at 80% and it's made a HUGE difference on my last phone.

That battery report is pretty handy, isn't it? Did your Dell ever give you a warning about the battery health dropping below some threshold, or did it just keep chugging along with no alerts? I'm curious if the software is just quiet about it until it's actually bad.
