Hot take: I spent 2 weeks trying to get my phone to stop auto-connecting to my car's Bluetooth, and the fix was one tap
My phone kept jumping onto my car's Bluetooth every time I walked past it in the driveway in Austin, which killed my podcast mid-episode about 4 times a day. I dug through developer options, deleted and re-paired the car like 6 times, and even had a chat with support that went nowhere over 40 minutes. Last Tuesday I was poking around in the Bluetooth settings and saw a tiny gear icon next to the car's name that I had never tapped. Inside there was a toggle called 'auto connect' that was just sitting there on. Flipped it off and the problem vanished in like 2 seconds. Two weeks of fighting versus one tap, I felt so dumb. Has anyone else lost a ridiculous amount of time to a setting hiding one level deeper than expected?
Life is basically just a bunch of hidden menus we don't know about until we stumble into them. Same thing happened to me with my washing machine and a setting buried in the app that was making every load take twice as long. The stuff that wastes our time is almost never hard, it's just hiding where nobody told us to look.
