Why does nobody talk about how big headphones mess with your neck after a few hours?

Had a chat with my chiropractor last week after a long day of listening and she pointed out that my heavy over-ear cans are probably why my traps are always tight. Honestly, it hit different because I never even thought about weight distribution until she showed me the strain on a diagram. Has anyone else dealt with soreness from heavier sets, or am I just being dramatic about 8 ounces?

Oh man, that diagram sounds brutal. I had a similar wake-up call last year when my physio told me my lightweight wireless buds were actually fine but I was hunching forward to read the screen while listening. Now I just prop my phone up higher and it somehow makes my neck feel better even with the same headphones.

My buddy got the same advice from his chiro after complaining about his neck always being sore. He had just switched to some cheap wired earbuds and thought they were too heavy, but @rileyjones is totally right, it was actually his posture the whole time. He was tilting his head down to look at his laptop while listening to podcasts, and the earbuds were just along for the ride. Once he raised his monitor up a few inches, the neck pain basically vanished within a week. He still uses the same earbuds and says they're fine now. It's wild how often the real problem is just how we're sitting, not the gear itself.
