Spent $60 on a custom battle map set for my D&D campaign and it was a complete waste

I run a weekly 5e game for my group and wanted to upgrade my old grid paper setup. Saw this fancy vinyl battle map bundle online with modular dungeon tiles and thought it would be amazing. Took three sessions to realize the markers they included dont erase cleanly and leave ghost stains. The tiles themselves warp after a few hours of play from just sitting on the table. I also found out you can get the same quality by buying a basic wet erase mat for $15 and some secondhand cardboard tiles. The whole thing feels like paying extra for a name. Has anyone else fallen for a fancy game accessory that just did not deliver?

Did a buddy get suckered into those textured dice trays that warp in a week?

and yeah totally feel you on that one. @jason_stone12 mentioned textured dice trays and I bet those are just as bad as this map set. i got a "premium" spell card holder that fell apart after two sessions, cheap materials every time. its honestly frustrating how much they hype up stuff that works worse than the basic option.
