Warning: I thought the whole 'slow travel' thing was just a trend
I used to bounce to a new city every month, thinking that was the point. Then I got stuck in Chiang Mai for three months last year because of a visa mix-up. Staying put let me actually learn some Thai, find a favorite local market, and get real work done without the constant packing. Has anyone else found that slowing down made the whole digital nomad thing work better for them?

What finally made you stop rushing and actually enjoy a place?

My buddy had a similar thing happen in Lisbon. He planned a two week stay but his laptop broke, and waiting for parts took a month. He ended up joining a weekly futsal game with locals and finally finished that online course he kept putting off. Slowing down fixed his burnout.

Ever wonder if we only get that forced slowdown from random bad luck, like a broken laptop? Could your buddy have found that same fix without the tech trouble, or did he need that push to actually stop?
