Nearly set my kitchen on fire last night with a cheap air fryer
I picked up a $25 air fryer from a discount store in Akron three weeks ago. Last night I preheated it for 5 minutes and noticed the plastic base was actually melting onto the countertop. Anyone else had a budget air fryer get scary hot like that?

Did it leave a permanent mark on the counter? I used to think all air fryers were pretty much the same, but this story makes me reconsider. I almost bought a cheap one from a flea market a few months ago, but went with a used name brand instead after reading some reviews. Now I'm glad I spent the extra cash, because melting plastic sounds like a real hazard. You got lucky it didn't catch fire.
