I stopped scrubbing every plate before loading the dishwasher after a repair guy showed me the filter last spring

Used to scrub everything until it looked clean because I thought the dishwasher couldn't handle crumbs, but now I just scrape off big bits and let the machine do its job since the filter caught way more gunk than I expected, has anyone else found a huge difference after ignoring the rinse-first rule?

Respectfully disagree, some things still need a good rinse first.

My sister had the same argument with me about baked-on cheese pans until I made her look at the filter after a month of just scraping. She was honestly grossed out but admitted her dishes came out just as clean without all that scrubbing. I still pre-rinse casserole dishes with dried food though, felt like that was crossing a line even for me. Everyone has that one stubborn dish they refuse to trust the machine with, right?
