My mother in law caught me scrubbing plates and laughed in my face

I always thought you had to basically pressure wash dishes before they go in the dishwasher. My MIL came over last week and saw me standing at the sink for like 10 minutes scraping caked on mac and cheese off a Pyrex dish. She just laughed and said 'the machine has a ground up food filter for a reason, you know.' I tested her theory by throwing in a plate with a big glob of spaghetti sauce still on it and it came out spotless. Now I feel like I wasted years of my life for nothing lol. Anyone else get roasted by a family member for their rinsing habits?

Dude, I gotta ask - did you feel a little betrayed by your own dishwasher after that? Like, all those years of scrubbing and it could have been taking care of things the whole time without you knowing?
