Rant: My sister's way of rinsing dishes drives me crazy
Went to her place in Phoenix last weekend and watched her scrub every plate with soap before putting it in the dishwasher. She says the machine won't get them clean otherwise. Am I the only one who thinks modern dishwashers can handle a little food stuck on?

Actually, pre rinsing like that can make the dishwasher less effective. The sensors in newer machines detect dirt to know how long to run, so if you rinse everything off first, it runs a shorter cycle and doesn't get things as clean.
