My mother in law told me to stop pre rinsing dishes and now I have a clogged filter

Honestly, my mother in law swore up and down that pre rinsing dishes before loading the dishwasher is a waste of water. She said the machine's sensors need some food particles to work right. So I tried her method for two weeks straight and guess what happened. My dishwasher filter got totally clogged with rice and spinach bits after just 5 cycles. Took me an hour to clean it out and now I'm back to rinsing. Has anyone else had a disaster from skipping the rinse step?

Man I read some article that said newer dishwashers actually have grinders or filters that handle food particles better, but it sounds like your machine isn't one of them.

Gotta wonder if a tiny bit of food really hurts anything, you know? Like are we overthinking this whole rinse thing?
