Cinnamon in the filter grounds before brewing sounded crazy, but I tried it this morning

I have a $20 Mr. Coffee and use generic store brand medium roast. Added a pinch of cinnamon right on top of the grounds before pouring in the water and it actually killed that bitter aftertaste without making it taste like a candle. Has anyone else messed around with spice add-ins like that?

A little nutmeg or cardamom mixed in next time, that combo with the cinnamon really rounds out the bitter edges even more. Makes it smell like you got a fancy coffee shop setup instead of a Mr. Coffee. You ever try a pinch of salt in the grounds too?

Can't believe you're putting salt in coffee, that sounds insane but now I kinda wanna try it.
